DNA molecules into tight arrays of loops along a helical spine
ICYMI: Before cells can divide, they need to wind the sprawling DNA of their chromosomes into neat, portable packages. New research shows how, with two protein complexes sequentially folding the DNA molecules into tight arrays of loops along a helical spine. Scientists hope to use these insights to better understand the dynamics of chromosomes during tumor formation and gene regulation.
